Joint optimization of price, replenishment frequency, replenishment cycle and production rate in vendor managed inventory system with deteriorating items

چکیده
This paper develops a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) model for a two-level supply chain comprised of one vendor and several non-competing retailers in which both the raw material and the finished product have different deterioration rates. It is assumed that the market demand for the finished product is deterministic and price sensitive. The proposed inventory model optimizes the retail price, the replenishment frequency of raw material, the replenishment cycle of the product, and the production rate jointly with main objective of maximizing the total profit of the entire chain. In the development of the inventory model the Stackelberg approach is considered between the chain partners where the vendor is leader and the retailers are the followers. Moreover, the concavity of the profit functions is proven and based on this a solution algorithm is developed to find the optimal solutions. At the end, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the use of the production–inventory model and perform a sensitivity analysis. Finally, some conclusions and future research directions are proposed. & 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Determining the optimal selling price and inventory control policy for deteriorating items is one of the important issues in academic and industrial researches. In this paper, a joint pricing and inventory control model for deteriorating items is considered. The demand rate is known, continuous and functions of price and time. This study models a joint pricing, inventory, and preservation decision-making problem for deteriorating items subject to stochastic demand and promotional effort. The generalized price-dependent stochastic demand, time proportional deterioration, and partial backlogging rates are used to model the inventory system. The objective is to find the optimal pricing, replenishment, and preservation t...
متن کاملOptimal ordering quantities for substitutable deteriorating items under joint replenishment with cost of substitution
In this paper we develop an inventory model, to determine the optimal ordering quantities, for a set of two substitutable deteriorating items. In this inventory model the inventory level of both items depleted due to demands and deterioration and when an item is out of stock, its demands are partially fulfilled by the other item and all unsatisfied demand is lost. Each substituted item incurs a...

متن کاملA Bi-objective Optimization for Vendor Managed Inventory Model
Vendor managed inventory is a continuous replenishment program that is designed to provide major cost saving benefits for both vendors and retailers. Previous research on this area mainly included single objective optimization models where the objective is to minimize the total supply chain costs or to maximize the total supply chain benefits. This paper presents a bi-objective mathematical mod...
